Reflection Questions
How did Joseph’s understanding of God’s sovereignty change the way he understood his suffering? Is there a painful part of your story that you need to entrust to God, even though you still don’t understand what He is doing?
How did Joseph’s confidence in God’s sovereignty free him from bitterness and the desire for revenge? Is there someone whose failure you continue to hold over them or whose offense you keep replaying in your mind? What would it look like for you to entrust justice to God and stop trying to make that person pay? If they have repented, is there a step you can take toward reconciliation?
How did Joseph’s words and embrace assure his brothers that they could trust him and move forward? Is fear, shame, comfort, or concern about what others think keeping you from something God has commanded in His Word? How does the love of God displayed at the cross give you courage to take your next step of obedience? What is that step?
