Genesis: The Unfolding of God’s Revelational History
The Book of Genesis tells the story of a God who created everything out of nothing in order to bless His people and glorify Himself. In this book, we will encounter a God who speaks the cosmos into existence, forms humanity with care, and gives us the gift of His image. Yet, we will also witness the tragic fall of humanity and the devastating consequences of sin; but, even amidst the brokenness, Genesis shines with hope as God's faithfulness to His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, points forward to His ultimate plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Then join us as we explore this remarkable book – and let us ask God to open our hearts and minds so that we will come to see that God is at work in our lives, unfolding His perfect plan as He did in creation.
The Test
This story is not ultimately about the greatness of Abraham’s obedience, but the greatness of God’s love and provision. So, if you feel tested today, remember: the God who provided the Lamb will not fail to provide what you truly need. Then, let’s trust Him and rest in the love He has already proven at the cross.
The Promise Fulfilled
Our God is the God who fulfills His promise, refines His people, and extends His blessing. Then, let’s learn to wait faithfully, obey fully, and live beautifully for His glory so that the world will know that He alone is worthy of our worship.
Grace in the Aftermath of Sin
When we sin, God doesn’t abandon us – He pursues us with even greater intensity. Our God is a God who awakens the compromised, restrains the sinful, and preserves the faithless. Have you sinned today? Then, receive His grace. He may not erase every consequence, but He’ll transform you to be more like Christ.
The Destruction of Sodom
In Sodom, we see sin’s corruption, in Lot, we see God’s compassion, and in Abraham, we see the power of intercession. God still judges evil, but He also remembers mercy. Then, let’s respond today with repentance, gratitude, and renewed intercession – trusting that the God who saved Lot is still saving now.
By His Grace, For His Glory
As we celebrate four years, let’s remember that the God who brought us here by grace is the same God who calls us to renewed devotion and who will keep us faithful through Christ. May today be not just a time to look back at what God has done, but a moment to look ahead at what God will do in the years to come.
Yet I Will Rejoice
Habakkuk teaches us that when life doesn’t make sense to us, when everything seems to be out of control, we can bring our fears to Him, rejoice in His salvation, and trust that His strength will sustain us. Then, may our gratitude rest not in what we have, but in who holds us – our faithful and sovereign God.
Standing Before the Judge of All the Earth
Our God is a God who invites His people into His plan, reveals His heart of justice and compassion, and fulfills His saving purpose through the righteousness of His Son. Then, let’s stand in the gap for a world that still needs to know that the Judge of all the earth has done what is right through Jesus Christ.
The Three Visitors
Our God is mighty to do the impossible – and yet He stoops down to meet us in our weakness, restore what is broken, and amaze us with His wonders. Then, may we, like Sarah, move from the laughter of unbelief to the laughter of joy, knowing that nothing is too wonderful for the Lord.
The Sealing of God’s Covenant
We’re called to trust God’s sufficiency even when promises seem delayed, live out of our new identity that shapes our mission, and remember Christ, who has sealed the covenant with His blood on the cross. Then, let’s live daily in the enjoyment of the covenant relationship with God, which is secure in Jesus Christ.
Sarai and Hagar
Our God is a God who sees and hears. You’re not forgotten – He will find you even in your wilderness. So, let’s not try to take matters into our own hands when our plans don’t work out. Let’s trust the One who is in control over all things. He doesn’t need our help. He’ll accomplish His will in His perfect timing.
The Return of Christ
Christ has won, Christ will reign, and Christ will judge. So, let’s not live in fear of the dragon’s roar but live in confidence of the Lamb’s victory. Don’t let these temporary battles blind you to the final outcome, for all who belong to Him will share in His victory forever.
God’s Covenant with Abram
God is our shield and our reward – in Him, we find true safety and lasting satisfaction. So, let’s cling to His promises when fears and doubts arise, confident that He remains faithful, even when we are faithless – His love endures, even when our love falls short, for He has bound Himself to us.
Paul on Trial
God is sovereignly at work in our lives, orchestrating all things to fulfill His purposes in and through us. Then, trusting in His wisdom and power, let’s make the most of every opportunity to advance the gospel, knowing that Christ is our only hope in life and in death. He is worth the cost.
Abram Rescues Lot
Faithlessness leaves us empty-handed, but faith enables us to leave our hands open, knowing that everything we have belongs to God. He gives and takes away – but by faith, we’ll choose to say, “Blessed be Your name.” May this be the confession of our lives – a deep trust in the One who rescued us from darkness.
Abram’s Faith
God is calling us to walk by faith, not by sight – to cling to His promises as we worship through it all. Yes, there will be times when we stumble. But let’s not allow those struggles to push us away from Him. Instead, let’s keep running to God, knowing that everything we truly need and long for is found in Him alone.
Abram’s Failure
God remains faithful even when we are faithless. No sin is too great, no failure too deep, no shame too heavy, for the steadfast love of God to overcome. In Christ, we’re safe and secure – held firmly in His gracious embrace. Then, let’s cling to this truth so that it’ll become a source of comfort for our hearts today.
Paul’s Farewell
Paul’s only aim was to finish the race well. So, he pressed on – boldly advancing the gospel and lovingly shepherding God’s people as he humbly relied on the transforming power of God’s Word. Then, that’s what we must do as well so that we, too, can faithfully live out the mission God has entrusted to us as a church.
Biblical Diaconate
Deacons serve to preserve the unity of the church and to support the elders as they shepherd God’s people. Then, let’s pray that God would raise up men and women who are not only strong, passionate, and wise – but also faithful, humble, and fully dependent on the Lord in all they do.
Biblical Eldership Pt. 2
Elders must know the sheep, feed the sheep, lead the sheep, and protect the sheep. Isn’t that the kind of leadership we long to see in our church? Then, let’s ask God to raise up elders who are not only strong, passionate, and wise but also faithful, humble, and deeply reliant on the Lord in all they do.
Biblical Eldership Pt. 1
Elders are God’s gift to the church, for they’re called to shepherd His people and build up the body of Christ. So, as under-shepherds of Christ, elders must lead with strength, wisdom, and integrity – living lives that are worthy of imitation for every believer. Then, let’s pray that God raises up elders like this.
