Genesis: The Unfolding of God’s Revelational History
The Book of Genesis tells the story of a God who created everything out of nothing in order to bless His people and glorify Himself. In this book, we will encounter a God who speaks the cosmos into existence, forms humanity with care, and gives us the gift of His image. Yet, we will also witness the tragic fall of humanity and the devastating consequences of sin; but, even amidst the brokenness, Genesis shines with hope as God's faithfulness to His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, points forward to His ultimate plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Then join us as we explore this remarkable book – and let us ask God to open our hearts and minds so that we will come to see that God is at work in our lives, unfolding His perfect plan as He did in creation.
Giving that Honours God
The gospel inspires us to give because that’s what Jesus did for us – He became poor so that we might become rich in Him. Then knowing that our God will continue to meet all our needs according to His riches, let’s give generously and joyfully for it will advance the gospel, bless us, and glorify the Giver of all things.
The Secret of Contentment
True contentment does not come from circumstances but through Christ – He alone is the ground of our contentment but also the source of power that will make this possible. Then let’s make every effort to learn to be content in Christ knowing that this is how we can rise above our circumstances.
Standing Firm in the Lord Pt. 2
If we want to press on, we must first stand firm in the Lord by thinking about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable – and putting them into practice. Then let’s do just that this week for when we do this, it’s promised that the God of peace will be with us to lift us, encourage us, and carry us when we fall.
Standing Firm in the Lord Pt. 1
If we want to press on, we must first stand firm in the Lord by having the same mind in the Lord, rejoicing in the Lord, and presenting our requests to the Lord. Then let’s do just that for when we do this, the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Pressing on Toward the Goal
We must learn to press on to take hold of Christ because Christ first took hold of us. Then as citizens of the Kingdom of God, may we run in such a way so that we would win the prize that God has prepared for us in Christ Jesus.
The Surpassing Worth of Knowing Christ
A Christian is someone who boasts in Christ, treasures Christ, and desires to know Christ more. May this be the description of all of us – to be a people who consider everything a loss for the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus.
Servants Worthy of Honour
Timothy, Epaphroditus, and Paul were living examples of what it means to live a life worthy of the gospel. They were men of compassion, consistency, commitment, and cooperation. Then let’s strive to emulate them so that our lives would bring glory to God and joy to others.
Living in Light of the Gospel
In light of what Christ accomplished for us on the cross, we’re now called to work out our salvation with fear and trembling in all aspects of our lives – specifically by doing all things without grumbling and arguing. Then let’s do just that knowing that God is already working in us to make this possible.
The Humility of Christ
The height of Christ’s glory models for us the life of humility, the depth of His condescension enables and empowers us to live humbly, and the magnitude of His exaltation shows us that the path of humility is the path to true greatness. Then let us aim to have the same mindset as Christ in our relationships with one another.
Unity & Humility
Our unity is the strength of the gospel because it’s a powerful witness to what Jesus has done. And this unity will be cultivated when we think of ourselves less as we value others above ourselves. Then as we reflect on the gospel realities, let’s protect and promote unity so that we may live a life that is worthy of the gospel.
A Life Worthy of the Gospel
A life worthy of the gospel is a life that is lived for Christ and others – advancing the gospel even if it leads to suffering. Then may this be evident in all our lives – and may we endeavor to live this way knowing that to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Paul’s Gospel-Centered Prayer
May Paul’s prayer for the Philippians be our prayer as well – that our love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight so that we may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. Let’s learn to put the priorities of the gospel at the center of our prayer life.
Paul’s Pastoral Heart
Paul’s heart was filled with joy because of their gospel partnership, because of his growing affection for them, and because of his confidence in the One who always carries it to completion the good work He begins. Then let’s continue to trust in the One who is sovereignly orchestrating our lives as we labor to advance the gospel – all for the glory of God.
Greetings from Paul
Paul viewed himself as a slave of Christ and the church as God’s holy people – and this divine perspective led him to give thanks and pray for them with joy. Then may we learn to perceive ourselves and others the same way so that our love for God and this community will continue to grow more and more this year.
A Life Worthy of the Gospel (Part 1)
A life worthy of the gospel is a life that is lived for Christ – advancing the gospel as we trust in God’s providence. May we endeavor to live this way as we immerse ourselves in the gospel that gives us the power to live this way.
