Genesis: The Unfolding of God’s Revelational History
The Book of Genesis tells the story of a God who created everything out of nothing in order to bless His people and glorify Himself. In this book, we will encounter a God who speaks the cosmos into existence, forms humanity with care, and gives us the gift of His image. Yet, we will also witness the tragic fall of humanity and the devastating consequences of sin; but, even amidst the brokenness, Genesis shines with hope as God's faithfulness to His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, points forward to His ultimate plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Then join us as we explore this remarkable book – and let us ask God to open our hearts and minds so that we will come to see that God is at work in our lives, unfolding His perfect plan as He did in creation.
Paradise Lost
The story of humanity’s fall reveals the profound impact of sin as it destroys everything that God intended to be good. But there’s still a glimpse of hope for God’s people, for Christ has been sent to crush Satan’s power and restore what was broken. Then, let’s cling to Christ today, for He alone is mighty to save.
The Promised Messiah
Jesus Christ is the Promised Servant-Messiah who has come to proclaim good news to the poor – and through Him, we will be transformed into an oak that can endure storms of life and live for His glory in all circumstances. Then, this Christmas, root yourself in Christ, for if you remain in Him, you will bear much fruit.
Comfort for the People of God
Christmas is about a message of comfort for the people of God, for the Messiah King has been sent to us. With His power, He won’t crush us, but He will tenderly care for us and carry us close to His heart. Then, find comfort in Him today, for He alone can free us from the power of sin and bring us back to God.
The Shoot from Jesse
Christmas reminds us that a King who is wise and powerful, just and gracious, will come to reverse the effects of the fall and restore all of creation to its original design. Then, don’t resist Him today. Look to Him. Listen to Him. Submit to Him. Wait for Him, for He will, one day, make everything new.
Christmas Through the Eyes of Isaiah
Christmas reminds us that God will not leave us in the dark but that He will shine His light upon us again – it tells us that He wants to dwell among us again. Then, this Christmas, let’s run to Christ, for He will give us a reason to hope again and a reason to rejoice again.
God’s Design for Marriage
Marriage is a gift from God that blesses us, but it also points us to Christ and His unending love for us. Then, with the power that Christ offers, let’s model after Him in the way we love our spouse so that our marriages can be used to fulfill the purpose that God has for us in bringing glory to His name.
Created to Work
Our work is purposeful because we’re working for the King. Then, in light of this, may all of us live according to Colossians 3:17, which says, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
God Rested
God rested so that we would know how to rest. Then, let’s recover this rhythm of life as we learn to work hard and rest peacefully, trusting in God’s sovereignty. May our rest refresh our souls and renew our love for the Lord.
Be Strong and Courageous
Today, let’s be reminded that our church is precious not because we’re special in any way but because it was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Then, trusting that Christ Himself will build His church, let’s make every effort to be faithful to the call that God has given us by centering our lives on the Word.
Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving
It is God who made us, and we are His – we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Then may this truth now cause us to shout for joy, serve with gladness, and burst out in joyful songs – praising and giving thanks to Him for He alone is worthy of our worship. Let’s give Him the glory that He deserves.
The Image of God
God created us in His image and likeness so that we would reflect His glory to the world. Then as we fix our eyes on Jesus, the only true image of God, let’s make every effort to shine His light before others so that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven
In the Beginning (Part 2)
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth in order to make a glorious home for His beloved people and to bless us so that we may be a greater blessing. Then trusting in the work of the Holy Spirit, let us go share this good news and point them to the Author of life for He alone is worthy of our praise.
In the Beginning (Part 1)
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. May this truth humble us and cause us to worship knowing that He alone is worthy of our praise, but I pray that it will also bring us comfort and strength knowing that this powerful God loves us, cares for us, and has a purpose for us.
A Story of Redemption
The best is yet to come because God is plotting for our joy. We may not be able to see it, but He is with us – perfectly orchestrating all things to fulfill His purpose in us. Then I pray that we would have the eyes to see God’s kind providence for our lives so that we will praise Him and delight in Him all the days of our lives.
The Parable of the Bags of Gold
Jesus has entrusted us with great things which are to be used for His glory and kingdom. Then I pray that this truth will cause you to be watchful, faithful, and diligent in every moment of your life – but I also pray that you’ll experience this incomparable joy and delight in our Lord Jesus Christ as you live in obedience.
The Ministry of Reconciliation
As recipients of the message of reconciliation, we must now go and declare the same message to the world for that is the mission that we have received. Then just as we experienced the joy of receiving this good news, may we have many opportunities to experience the joy of sharing this good news with others as well.
Spiritual Warfare
We are at war. The devil who is powerful, evil, and crafty will continue to do everything in his power to ruin our walk with the Lord. Therefore, we must put on the full armor of God by learning to internalize the whole gospel through the Word and prayer.
Seeking Rest
Life will constantly tempt us to take matters into our own hands – but may we learn to rest in the One who holds the future knowing that He will always be kind to us.
Healing in His Wings
Take refuge under the wings of the Lord because it will not only fill you with life and hope but will also empower you to be a blessing to others in all circumstances. As you think through the implications of His sweet providence in your life, may you experience this joy that cannot be taken away.
